Plot:
In the days before D-Day, the Allies massed men and equipment on English soil, while those weather conditions allow the implementation of the biggest landing of all time, and meanwhile, the German army, already engaged in Russia and Italy, is stepping up efforts for the completion of the fortifications along the Atlantic Wall.
got the green light, Operation Overlord spread throughout its grandeur and ferocity ...
Shot in about 20 years after the events narrated, the film, using an exceptional cast, recreating the first 24 hours of the invasion of Normandy coast during the 06 June 19 44.
The crudeness of the fighting is perceptible, even if veiled hints of superomismo typical of the cinema of the time.
The screenplay for the film, made by Cornelius Ryan (author of the homonymous book from which the film is based), follows as closely as possible the evidence gathered by the author with direct interviews with veterans and military research in the archives of the countries affected by events.
Note how the episodes narrated in the tale incorporating historical events actually occurred, highlighting the accuracy of implementation by the Allies, a project too grandiose to be planned in detail and the absurdity of the situation in which they operate the German officers, Hitler always stuck in the action from a more centralized and detached from reality; impeccable historical research with regard to means, weapons and equipment.
Wonderful overview of a historic event that marked the world history and an excellent source of ideas and modeling of historical research. Click
